認知神経科学、社会・文化心理学、行動・神経経済学といったさまざまな領域における国内外の研究者が集まり、互いの研究関心および最新のデータを発表し、意見交換することで、Cultural Neuroscience（文化神経科学）という新領域の可能性について討論した。具体的には、心の社会性を探求していく上で、神経科学的および生物学的な手法はどの程度有効なのか、そういった手法を用いた研究は社会科学一般においてどの程度インパクトがあるのか、どのような社会・文化的な側面がどの程度神経のメカニズムの発達に影響を与えているのかなどトピックに関し、さまざまな議論が交わされた。
