Title:Experimental phylosophy and experimental economics: An econimic experiment of phylosophical experiment for the Knobe effect

Date: February 17, 2011 (Thursday) 10:00~12:00

Location: Hokkaido University, Faculty of Letters, room E204

Participants: Taiki Takahashi, Keiko Ito, Mizuho Shinada, Keigo Inukai, Nobuhiro Mifune, and others (total 22 participants)

Content:

We show the results of economic experiment about Knobe effect. Knobe (2003) discovered that people tend to judge that a bad side effect is brought about intentionally, whereas a good side effect is judged not to be brought about intentionally. This study examined if the Knobe effect would occur in an economic experiment. The results show that people have the egalitarian orientation, but they think that other people don’t have the orientation.
