The second workshop of CEFOM/21 took place on December 27th, 2002. The first workshop
focused primarily on the goals of the center and an overview of the projects. In the
second workshop, we discussed more concrete research topics, such as heuristics invoked
in social exchange settings, and the problems with the use of self-construal scale commonly
used in cultural psychology. To discuss these issues from a sociological perspective,
we invited three prominent sociologists who specialize in rational choice theory and
evolutionary psychology: Professor Whitmeyer (Department of Sociology , University of
North Carolina, USA), Professor Hopcroft (Department of Sociology , University of North
Carolina, USA), and Professor Kanazawa (Department of Psychology, University of Canterbury,
New Zealand).
