We invited Professor James Wertsch (Washington University at St.Louis), one of the leading scholars who advocate the socio-cultural approach in psychology. His books "Voices of the mind" (Harvard University Press), "Mind as action" (Oxford University Press), "Voices of Collective Remembering" (Cambridge University Press), are well recognized by researchers in various fields. On August 12, we held a symposum on the concept "mediation," which Professor Wertsch have investigated for over a couple of dacades. On August 13, we took place a workshop on "collective remembering," the topic on which Professor Wertsch is currently working. At the last day, young researchers and graduate students presented their own works, and an active discussion has been held.

Theme: Voices of Collective Remembering
Professor Wertsch talked about the concept"collective remembering" and his narrative approach to "memory and history." An active discussion with the audience followed.

August 14 (Saturday)

10:00-12:00   Professor Wertsch and young researchers and graduate students exchanged their research ideas.
Young researchers and graduate students presented their on-going studies. An active discussion has been held between participants including Professor Wertsch.
