Young people's attitude and fashion has attracted considerable attention. Many theories of young people's life has been shown, however, almost no research has discussed general images of young people. I focused on images of young people in this study. What do people think about young people?
Before I examine general images, I have studied the theory of young people's life. Many previous theories claimed young people were very individualistic, do not have motivation, or communication skills were very low. In the investigation of their interests, It is clear that young people do not have motivation in some areas, but their interest is different from older people's. Young people's real interest was for near human communications. This result is considered to somewhat differ from the previous theory of young people.
Next, I investigated young people's general image. It was so negative. This result was expected considering the previous theories of young people were mostly negative. Offer more detailed investigation, I found that younger people and outgroup people had such a tendency more strongly. It was an unexpected result that younger people have this tendency more strongly.
The above result suggests that young people's image are very exaggerated. We need a new type of theory of young people which does more than just describe young people's characteristics and behavior. Considering the function of media, it is difficult to avoid exaggeration. And we say nothing about young people without abstraction. We need to abstract to some extent and also have flexibility for changing it on occasion.
